The Chinese University of Hong Kong appointed Monimedia to revitalise their University Library website with more powerful and up-to-date capabilities to facilitate both faculty and students.
As the Library System naturally grew over time, The Chinese University of Hong Kong needed a new site and online system that was scalable to grow alongside the Library. Furthermore, the online system needed to unify the University’s separate collegiate libraries. Overall the system needed to manage a collection 4.1 million electronic books, allow users to check the titles and availability of 2.7 million physical books, and manage a database of over 61,000 library users. Furthermore, the website needed to have robust filtering capabilities, segmented user rolls & permissions, as well as a straightforward user experience.
Monimedia leveraged the Drupal 7 framework to create the new Library Website. Advanced categorisation and filtering functionalities were implemented to provide students and faculty with faster and more accurate search results. Furthermore, mobile responsiveness was implemented to provide ease of access on-the-go. As a result, the Library site experienced an increase in traffic and book borrowing, operational processes were improved and the overall user experience was enhanced.
